Write for us:
The Art of Oral Storytelling Journal accepts submissions on an ongoing basis, and all submissions will be considered for one of our quarterly issues. To submit articles considered for publication, please read and follow these guidelines.
•We accept creative nonfiction articles up to 5000 words although we generally prefer articles to be between 1000 and 1500 words.
•We accept images that relate directly to the article written, have a relationship to the issue of oral storytelling, or a connection to the issue theme.
•We accept submissions in a persons first/ primary language (other than English) and with an English translation. We will publish both versions of the article to support our multi-cultural / ethnically diverse / bi-lingal / multi-lingal storytelling communities internationally.
•All submissions should have some connection to the theme of each publication. The theme can be interpreted laterally however, some connection must be made.
•You don’t have to be a storyteller to contribute, but your contribution should be about the art of oral storytelling, with an emphasis on the publication theme.
•Simultaneous submissions and work previously published on your own blog or website are both okay. It is important that you let us know where else your work has been published so we can correctly acknowledge all previous publications. All contributors retain all the rights to their own work.
•All submissions should include your name, contact information, as well as the title of your piece and how the piece is connected to the theme of each publication. Also include a short bio and a photo of yourself.
•Submit a maximum of two pieces at a time.
• We are unable to pay you for your contribution at this point. We hope to change this in the future.
•We accept email submissions only to: email@example.com Please attach the submissions separately and not include the work in the email body.
•We’re currently accepting submissions all year-round however, look at when submission due dates are for each publication.
•All writing should be submitted in a standard font 12 pt font i.e., Times Roman, Arial, Tahoma. Double spaced.
